• If you're ever in New Orleans and happen to dine at Emeril's Delmonico in the Garden District, order the Grand Charcuterie Tasting. It's the most magnificent collection of creatively prepared pig meat you'll ever encounter in this lifetime. Cherries stuffed with bacon — top that, Rachael Ray!
The Blood Assurance here in town is extremely low on supply!
And we are asking for all of you to help our community save lives.
Chattanoogans,
My Ladies In Aiding volunteer group is hosting a blood drive next Tuesday, July 7th, between the hours of 2-7pm. The Blood Mobile will be in front of Mellow Mushroom downtown for your convenience! It only takes 30-45 minutes and (of course you all know) has a direct impact on your community and saves lives!
The bus will provide snacks and drinks to donors as well as a free t-shirt and an opportunity to win a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Additionally, be sure to mention that you are donating in honor of the Jordan Thomas Foundation which raises money for children with traumatic injuries (info below), and a $10 donation will be made to this fantastic organization while you will be entered into a contest to win $100!
If you can't make it to Mellow Mushroom on the 7th, you can visit any Blood Assurance location (http://www.bloodassurance.org/directions.html) between now and July 9th. Just let them know you are donating in honor of LIA and Jordan Thomas to be eligible for the $10 donation, $100 drawing, and the motorcycle!
If you are unable to give blood, that's ok! We would be grateful for you to encourage your spouse, a friend, or a family member or two to come out and show support. You could even just forward this to a few people...any help we can get, we'll take it!
Thanks in advance for your support and generosity. And if you win the Harley I want a ride!!!
Further info on Blood Assurance and the Jordan Thomas Foundation is below.

Blood Assurance is in critical need of type O positive and O negative blood donors. Anyone able to volunteer to donate blood is urged to do so as soon as possible. Blood Assurance needs at least 400 blood donations everyday in order to supply area hospitals.
The current supply of O positive blood is at a less than one day level. O negative type blood is the type used in emergencies. Blood Assurance locations are open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm. on Saturdays.
Visitors to any Blood Assurance location or blood drive can register to win a 2009 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 Low motorcycle. Drawing for the Harley will be held on July 10 at Thunder Creek Harley's Sundown Concert. And all blood donors receive a black Harley style tee shirt while supplies last!

On August 16, 2005 while scuba diving in the Florida Keys, a boat propeller struck both of my legs. I was sent to the Ryder Trauma Center in Miami where I underwent three surgeries, and I lost both of my legs from the calf down. I spent about two weeks in the hospital and returned home to undergo rehabilitation. My rehabilitation has been tough, but I have been given every opportunity possible.
In 2007, I graduated from the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I was a member of the golf and bowling teams, and one of my goals in rehabilitation was to rejoin my teammates for my senior year. I am happy to report that we had a successful golf season, and it’s great to be back playing golf. I have just started my sophomore year at the College of Charleston, and I am excited to be a “Cougar.” Without your love and support, I would certainly not be doing as well as I am.
When I was in the hospital, I was really touched by the kids who would never be able to achieve their dreams because they did not have the money to continue their recovery and rehabilitation. Larry was one boy who had been severely burned and was recovering in the Trauma Rehabilitation Unit. He had almost no resources with which to continue his rehabilitation after discharge. To make matters worse, Larry was placed on a waiting list to go to a foster home as his parents had abandoned him. I felt great sadness about his many losses and grateful for all the loving support I have received during my recovery.
With that in mind, I have set up the Jordan Thomas Foundation to raise money for children with traumatic injuries who are not as fortunate as I. With my foundation, I hope to raise at least five hundred thousand dollars to help these kids. I would like for you to help us reach that goal!
Gratefully,
Jordan Thomas
