Ryan Berube
Age: 37
Occupation: Asst. Plant Mgr/Electrical Engineer
Short term fitness goal: Stay injury free and fit through the summer.
Long term fitnes goal: To become as good an athlete as is genetically possible for me. Also, I’d like to hit a 500 lb DL. If I’m ever disciplined enough I wouldn’t mind seeing what 10% BF feels like.
Previous Sports/Fitness Experience: Competitive soccer, weightlifting, USMC
What initially drew you to CrossFit? I was trying to incorporate Olympic lifting into my workouts for explosive power and I came across the main page looking for lifting demonstrations. I was intrigued by the Crossfit concept and Get Built fortunately happened to open around the same time. I was drawn to the idea of training to become a better athlete. Initially I valued the ability to throw weights around the most, but after the 6+ months I’ve been here I definitely value the group/community as a whole more. I can’t emphasize enough how motivating it is to work out with, and get coached by, a group of people who are constantly pushing themselves to perform better. My fitness, work capacity, and overall health have significantly increased. If you want to get healthy and perform at your highest potential then quit rationalizing why you can’t do it or won’t like it and get your ass down here to try it out.
